Welcome to the Fall Into Fall Festival!

The air is getting cooler, the days are getting shorter, and life is falling back into the familiar patterns of school and work. Vacation is over, but the holidays are still a ways off. What better way to welcome the change of seasons than a fan-fiction fest?

The Premise

The fest will take place over two months. During the first month, people will leave prompts in the Leaf Pile sticky post. In the second month, writers will fill the prompts and try to add as many leaves as they can to their personal leaf pile. At the end of the festival, the person with the biggest leaf pile will win a prize: a one hour art commission from katsmithart.com!

The Schedule

August 15 to September 30: Prompt collection phase.

September 15 to November 30: Prompt fill phase.
Sign Ups are open for the duration of the festival and do not close until the festival ends on November 30th.

The Rules

1. Prompts should be posted in the Leaf Pile sticky post as fandom/characters/prompt.

2. Comment on the 'Sign Up' thread on this post to get your own personal leaf pile for the prompt fill phase.

3. When the fill phase opens, pick prompts from the leaf pile and write them, then post the links to the finished pieces or the piece itself in the comments of your personal leaf pile post.

4. Fills are 250 words minimum. Prompts are open to writer interpretation.

5. Please post links to fills over 400 words.

6. If there are any questions or concerns, contact the mods or comment on this post under the 'Questions' thread.

I'd love to join up, but I do have a question. Do we also need to join Write It to be involved in this fest?

I have three questions:

1. Can I (re)use fics I have written for this challenge for other prompts/communities?
2. Are any fandom and/or any character prompts okay?
3. Can a prompt be used multiple times (by different authors?)?

Nope, we're flexible on that. We'd love to have you in both, but if you want to only be in the fest, that's fine too.

The answer to all three questions is yes.

So, I haven't participated in many events where you provide specific prompts, just general likes/dislikes etc. Are there any... like... community standards I need to be aware of? Things like the acceptable range of specific vs. general when making a prompt. Or, I know I saw some people posting one prompt per comment and others bundling them together - is that personal preference or is there some generally known "If XYZ then you do it THIS way, but if ABC then you do it the OTHER way."

I don't want to just stomp in and be accidentally rude or something...

Can you explain what you mean by signing up to get our own leaf pile? I don't understand. Sorry...

I would say just post the prompts you have on mind and it's up to the writers if they want to use it or not. As for posts, if you put mulyiple prompts in the same post, no one is going to track you down. :) Relax, have fun, and know that we're laid back on most things around here!

You will get your own post where you can put your fills in the comments of that post. The posts will go up on Sept 14, so everyone is ready to start on the 15th. Does that answer your question?
