Rumours of martial unrest between the Waleses have been laid to rest by the news that Diana is pregnant, and Andrew’s reassignment to RNAS Portland has allowed the Yorks relationship to flourish. If it upsets Philip? Oh well. The last thing Elizabeth wants is another divorce in the family.
Rumours that erupt during Anne and Tim’s wedding regarding the parentage of the Wales baby are summarily dismissed, as are the rumours that the extra child the Yorks have been saddled with is the product of Charles and Camilla. Affairs are acceptable, being foolish with them is not. The Duchess of York’s attempts to feed into those rumours’ legitimacy is similarly rebuffed.
